Demons of Ruby Mae – Someday – Single Review

Review by Tom Coombs

The band’s name itself makes you think of rock, the Genre is self described as Alternative, Rock and Folk.  So when new single ‘Someday’ blasted forth from my speakers it was not what I expected, but the Manchester matured duo of Jonny Gavin and Adam Rowley blew me away with the first note.

Firstly you can tell these two have been compared to the XX and have had, it seems, a pretty good reception since the bands inception in 2013.  And only four years on, Someday, which is simple poetic and heartfelt comes across as the biggest song of 2017.

With piano and a symbolic electronic effects, this is one song is vocal lead and lead it is, the power behind the voice is something to behold.  The whole song is epic in delivery and powerful without being pretentious, it flows through heavy drums but keeps a style of beauty that even as a writer I am finding hard to describe.

But one thing is for sure, I am so happy I review music so gems like this get everything they deserve.  And the final note held out to nothing, was just…….

Go and give this song below and then spread the word and get a copy.

4 Stars – Epic-ally beautiful from first chord to final tone
