Time to Meet Maker - Maker

Review by Tom Coombs

This the new five track self titled EP from Maker, their only release after their first full length album mirrors and it is out on Engineer Records.  One thing ER know is great music and they haven’t got it wrong yet and definitely not with Maker.  A mixture of pop/rock and heavier Rock, they bring their American roots with them.  From Springfield Massachusetts these guys are comfortable with the sound they have and what a sound it is.

The band consists of Dave Carter – Vocals, Eric Soucy – Guitar, Mickey Lebiedz – Guitar, Mike Coyle – Bass, Raffi Santourian – Drums, and they come together perfectly.  Musically and Vocally they are a pure joy to listen to.  The first track on Maker is ‘Shadows’ and what a perfect intro track it is, some nice vocals and great heavy guitar sections.  It is a perfect EP for rock fans everywhere.  If you haven’t heard of these guys then you soon will.  The indie feel shining through the pop/rock makes it a unique feel which you hear and feel in ‘You Know Who You Are’.  But if you want more Rock I would recommend the final track ‘Hurricanes’ this has some great guitar work.

They recorded this new EP at Zing Studios in Westfield, MA with the help of producer/engineer Eric Arena (A Day To Remember, Farewell To Freeway, The Modern Day Saint) and Jim Fogarty (All That Remains, Arrows Over Athens). They recently shot a video for their first single “Shadows” with director Rob Soucy (Make Do And Mend, Defeater, A Loss For Words) and just finished up a UK tour with platinum recording artist Hawthorne Heights. And another tour in the USA has just wrapped, so these guys love to tour and play live which is the true way to listen to any music. Hopefully we can get Maker back to the UK on their own headlining tour, with a few of the other Engineer Records guys.

So for the rating……..

4 stars - Great EP, we can’t wait for the next full album, well done Maker!
