Review by Tom Coombs
Hailing from Malta and based in London comes Berne, the former front woman of band ‘Bletchley Park’ who is now going it alone and has just released her second single ‘In The Woods’.Her first single 'India' was 'Best Single Release' in 2012 by The Sunday Times of Malta and has Jamie Cullum as a fan and I can see why. With influences from Imogen Heap to Regina Spektor, ‘In The Woods’ tells the story of being in a Dark Place and being there so often it is the only place you know. The images the song creates are very dark and the mixture of the music and vocals create an atmosphere around them that tells the story in a pure dramatic way.
Berne seems to be a force of nature, the amazing vocals of this unique and talented singer song-writer are just mesmerising, mixed with some great a piano work and strings that just creates one amazing sound and really hits every spot a single should.
‘In The Woods’ was released on the 16th of October so is out now, you can also check out the music video right here.
Berne also has her début EP ‘Conversation’ out in November and our review for this is coming real soon.
