Origami Horses – In Love & In Dub – Album Review

By Tom Coombs

The three piece Canterbury, Kent based band ‘Origami Horses’ have released their latest album ‘In Love & In Dub’.  A great stripped back alt rock sound.

The nine track album is released on Metal Postcard Records and is available to buy here on BandCamp.  And you would be a fool not to check it out then buy a copy. ‘Origami Horses’ love the use of odd sounds in the songs which really makes them more than just an alt-rock band.  They make unique music and songs smashed together to create tracks that only this band can.

From start to finish the distorted guitars and effects make this a bit of a psychedelic journey, you’ll notice this in track ‘The King of Happenstance’.  But if you are into your more main stream sound then tracks such as ‘The Prophet’ or ‘The Book of Ruth (part 2)’ will be up your street so there is something for anyone.

The album is something new to me, it is different all the way through, the tracks do go together even though they shouldn't.  It is masterful pieced together nine tracks.

‘Origami Horses’ are perfectly labelled as alternative but they are unique with it and really worth checking out.

4 Stars – A crazed mash of music to mess with your mind perfectly
